When people are caught in survival mode – a state triggered by stress, danger, or scarcity – much can change. Their brain and body enter a hyper-alert mode, focusing solely on immediate safety. In this state, people tend to not have time to think about long-term well-being, or the little things in life that matter. Some are even challenged to abandon their morals, or any ideals that usually guide them. Survival becomes the only thing that matters at that moment. It’s like flipping a switch, and the world around them shrinks to a single priority: protection.
