It’s easy to believe that others hold us back, that hidden enemies or “haters” out there are secretly working against us. In my experience, though, this isn’t usually the case. Sure, there are envious people, and maybe even some who wish us ill. But most of the time, others are too wrapped up in their own lives, busy dealing with their own struggles, to really think about us that much at all.
